REGENT'S CANAL, VICTORIA PARK.

Oil on steel, 40 x 40cm. 2020

I started this piece in around 2012, when I was living in the area. As I remember, I must have gone there only on two occasions to sketch it out, I then didn't look at the work again until the summer of 2019. Since then, I have been driving up on the odd day to get in a few hours of painting, I finally completed it in early December 2020.

I mostly painted during the Spring and Summer, however I was keen to finish it so decided to go back as Autumn was kicking in. I'm glad I did as the Autumn leaves brought a welcome twist to the finished piece.

I sometimes like to incorporate a sense of movement in my work and this was made possible with the constant arrival and departure of the multicoloured canal boats.
